Fontaines DC have confirmed they will play two headline shows at Slane Castle in June 2027, according to the Irish Independent. The band, which also performed at Electric Picnic this year, has added a second date at the County Meath venue after initial demand.
The Irish Independent reports the move cements the group’s status as Ireland’s biggest band. The two-night booking follows a period of rapid growth for the five-piece, who have moved from club venues to festival headline slots in a relatively short span.
RTE.ie also confirmed the additional Slane date, while The Irish Times noted the pair of performances are scheduled for June 2027. The announcement comes after a summer that included a headline set at Electric Picnic, one of Ireland’s largest music festivals.
The band’s former teacher, speaking to The Journal, said the group is not driven by social media metrics. That comment offers a glimpse into the mindset that has carried them to major outdoor shows without relying on online hype, the outlet reported.
Irish Examiner columnist Tom Dunne wrote that he has long urged audiences to see Fontaines DC live, describing their performances as essential. The column adds to a growing chorus of praise from Irish media figures as the band’s profile expands internationally.
The Slane shows will be a significant test of the band’s stadium-level appeal. Slane Castle has historically hosted some of the biggest names in rock, and a two-night run is rare for any act.
What to watch next: whether Fontaines DC add more Irish dates or extend their 2027 touring plans beyond the Slane double-header.
